In 1988, the creations of chef Kamlesh Israni were introduced to Southern California via a private catering for the San Diego Symphony. Not having yet created a business model for her talents, she simply billed her clients under the name Kamlesh’s Catering. In 1990, she opened her first restaurant, Kamlesh’s Catering Tandoor (Kc’s). Having opened four locations in the span of 19 years, and selling three, she decided to focus her energies on one restaurant (Encinitas), allowing her to return to her first love: creating culinary ambience for private catering.
